President
Doug Carrey-Beaver
On June 25, 2011, Doug Carrey-Beaver began serving his 2-year term as President of Bolton Street Synagogue. He has served the synagogue in a number of roles including as President-elect and as a member of the Board, chair of the Library Committee, member of the Finance Committee and co-chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. Doug, his wife Nancy, and their sons David, Ben, and Jesse joined Bolton Street in 1991. Doug and Nancy have always brought their best game to Bolton Street, Nancy as one of several founders of the synagogue's religious school (just one example!). Doug is Assistant Attorney General and Principal Counsel for the Maryland Department of Information Technology.

Vice-President
Melissa Zieve
Melissa is currently serving a second term as vice-president of Bolton Street Synagogue. She is also co-chair of the Rabbinic Search Committee, a member of Bolton Street's Leadership Development Committee and, since 2006, a teacher in the religious school. Melissa, her husband Peter Berns, and the Berns-Zieve children (Eli, Rose, Jesse, and Sarah) joined Bolton Street in 1999. The children have signed on for significant roles at Bolton Street, too. For 5 years Rose was an assistant in the religious school where Jesse is currently a Hebrew tutor and Sarah is l a student. Eli, Rose, and Jesse all graduated from the religious school and celebrated their b'nai mitzvot at Bolton Street. Melissa is a social worker specializing in community organizing and non-profit management. Her current occupation is homeschooling her two younger children.

Secretary
Ralph Raphael
Ralph is serving a second term as secretary on the heels of several years as a Bolton Street board member. He grew up in a large reform congregation in Chicago. Ralph and his family—wife, Elaine, and sons, David and Matt—are charter members of Bolton Street Synagogue. David was the second bar mitzvah at Bolton Street, in 1994. Matt followed three years later. Elaine was the first editor of Chaverim and a member of the Board. Ralph and Rabbi Mona Decker enjoyed teaching together in the religious school. Ralph Raphael is a psychologist and founder of the Maryland Center for Health Psychology. He specializes in career counseling and substance abuse.

Treasurer
Jeffrey R. Stern
Jeff joined Bolton Street Synagogue in 1993 with his wife Joyce Moskovitz, a former member of the Bolton Street Board. They have two children, Hannah and Jacob Stern. Jeff is founder and principal of Riverside Advisors, LLC, a national consultant firm for community development finance and affordable housing. Prior to launching this company, Jeff was a founding staff member, president, and chief executive officer of Enterprise Mortgage Investments, Inc., a Fannie Mae and Federal Housing Administration (FHA) lender specializing in financing affordable rental housing nationwide.

Immediate Past President
Larry Wissow
Long time synagogue member, Larry and his wife Nancy Hutton joined Bolton Street in the late 1980s with their young son Stephen and were joined several years later by baby daughter Leah. "Bolton Street has been a wonderful constant in our lives," says Larry, who was also a Chaverim editor, "and we're grateful for the chance to have met so many wonderful people and to be part of a warm and stimulating community." Nancy has served on the Rabbinic Search Committee and Finance Committee. Stephen and Leah celebrated their b'nai mitzvot at Bolton Street. Larry is a child psychiatrist and a faculty member at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health.
