Committees

Executive Committee:
Provides guidance to the President and the lay and professional leadership. Comprised of the officers of the Board, it evaluates professional staff and oversees all aspects of the Synagogue. Doug Carrey-Beaver:  solarbeaver@comcast.net

Finance Committee:
Oversees the financial stability of the congregation; prepares a yearly budget for approval by the Board. Jeff Stern:  chicubf@comcast.net

Development Committee:
Creates and implements long- and short-term fund-raising plans for capital needs, annual fund and endowment. Lyn Watner:  lw0424@aol.com

Leadership Development Committee:
Works to ensure that the Board is well-rounded and has the appropriate skill-set for the Synagogue; recommends future Board members; invites congregants to serve on committees and chair special events so that they may be nurtured as potential leaders and Board members.  Engages new and current congregants in activities to encourage more involvement with the synagogue. Elaine Richman: erichman@richmanassociates.com

Parent Advisory Committee (PAC): 
Parents of the children in the religious school formed the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) to lend support to the teachers, the principal and the students.  They meet once a month during religious school to discuss and plan events, provide input and help make the school experience both educationally enriching and enjoyable. Religious Culture Committee:
Works closely with the Rabbi and Cantor to enhance spirituality for the congregation, helps organize and coordinate services for Shabbat, High Holy Days, and other holidays. Promotes Jewish content and music in the observance of holidays and festivals and recommends religious policy and practice.  Lissa Abrams:  abrams00@comcast.net

Social Action Committee:
Creates a forum for the congregation to discuss local and national issues; engages the congregation in activities that promote good will throughout the community. Handles charitable contributions from the synagogue.

Public and Community Relations Committee:
Promotes the congregation in the neighboring community and surrounding areas; forges ties with other Jewish organizations and events; promotes activities for participation beyond our immediate congregation. Creates joint programs for our Jewish and non-Jewish neighbors. Jeffrey Raymond: jeffraymond@verizon.net

Building/Grounds/Interior Design Committee:
Is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds as well as making recommendations for the interior spaces of the building. Nancy Savage:  nandsav@gmail.com; Julie Gilbert:  julie.gilbert@verizon.net;  Gary Felser:  gfelser@aol.com

Congregational Life & Membership Committee: 
Plans and organizes adult activities and educational opportunities such as lectures, book club, classes, and music appreciation; promotes life-long learning. Assists congregants in their times of need or joy.  Responsible for Onegs, if needed. Oversees the Friday night Shabbat chicken dinners and the Passover Seder. Library Committee: 
Responsible for purchasing books and maintaining the library and its systems. It is also responsible for maintaining the historical records of the synagogue. Sara Rybczynski: psryb@yahoo.com
